Willow's Showers

We were blessed with two showers for our sweet Willow girl, and praise him, we got everything we needed for her from them!! I did a horrible job of taking pictures of how cute they were, but I managed to snap just a few on my iphone. The first one was thrown by my sisters and sweet friend, Lizzy. It was so adorable and wonderful. They had delicious brunch food, and Lizzy made the most beautiful invitation. Thank you, Thank you to all the wonderful ladies that came! And especially to my sweet sisters and Lizzy!

The second shower was thrown by my church. We always keep these showers really simple and directly after church. So far this year, we've had a shower pretty much every single month! We were overwhelmed with all the gifts we received. Josh and I sat in her room that afternoon organizing it all and just kept thanking the Lord for everything we received! So many diapers and wipes and outfits and goodies. It was unreal! Oh, and precious lady from our church even got us a baby Willow tree!!!! So so so excited to watch it grow alongside our little girl.

I told you I did a horrible job documenting these showers, but I'm so incredibly thankful for them both. Like I said, we have everything we need PLUS more and we couldn't be more thankful!

C TURNS 2! WHAT???

(Ignore all the weird spacing throughout this post. I have no idea what's happening or why it did that)

well this post is pure picture overload, but really? what did you expect for a post all about my little boy's second birthday. It was the absolute perfect day. We started the day off with two celebratory birthday donuts. He wasn't too sure about the candles. He did a great job blowing them out but was then real confused. Dont worry though, he ate every bit of that sugary goodness photo c2birthday-001.jpg photo c2birthday-002.jpg photo c2birthday-003.jpg photo c2birthday-006.jpg

Next we played outside for a good bit because the weather was... you guessed it... perfect!!! Josh played with him and took him on a walk so I could get some cooking done photo c2birthday-008.jpg photo c2birthday-009.jpg photo c2birthday-010.jpg photo c2birthday-012.jpg photo c2birthday-007.jpg photo c2birthday-011.jpg

While C napped, I finished up his cakes. I made two strawberry cakes for our guests & one MAGNIFICENT train cake for C. I just followed pinterest tutorials, and it was actually pretty easy. Just time consuming. I was so nervous about how it would turn out. I've never made a themed cake before or really ever even decorated a cake so this was a little nerve wracking. I also followed pinterest tutorials for marshmallow fondant and was so pleased with out it turned out. photo c2birthday-019.jpg photo c2birthday-015.jpg photo c2birthday-017.jpg photo c2birthday-014.jpg photo c2birthday-016.jpg photo c2birthday-020.jpg photo c2birthday-021.jpgThankfully, I managed to snap a few pics of us with C before our families arrived. CAN NOT BELIEVE HE IS TWO!!! photo c2birthday-022.jpg photo c2birthday-024.jpg

C loved every single item. I'm so thankful for everything he got. I even put a few away to take back out once Willow gets here so he has something new to entertain himself with while I nurse and heal. I'm thinking this is a genius idea:) photo c2birthday-032.jpg photo c2birthday-033.jpg photo c2birthday-036.jpg photo c2birthday-035.jpg photo c2birthday-037.jpg photo c2birthday-038.jpgI knew he was going to love his cake. I didn't know that he would love it so much that he wouldn't even want to eat it. Almost a week later, and it's still sitting on our counter. He's so obsessed with it. He did eat a few oreo wheels and the marshmallow steam. photo c2birthday-039.jpg photo c2birthday-040.jpg photo c2birthday-041.jpg photo c2birthday-043.jpg photo c2birthday-044.jpg photo c2birthday-048.jpg photo c2birthday-045.jpg

We had the BEST little family party imaginable. I'm so glad we decided to keep it so low key this year. It was fun throwing a big huge party for his first, but it's just can't happen every year. And at the end of the day, C doesn't care about all of that anyways.

Little boy, I love you so very much. I can't believe you are TWO years old. You're growing way to fast for my heart to handle. Every single day with you is such a blessing. I love how much you loved your simple little party. Trains, Judah, Family. It was perfect.  I can't wait to watch you become a big brother in the next few days. I love you!!!

C's First Birthday Party

I'll just go ahead and warn you that this entire week is dedicated to posts all about our C. Because in this home, we believe in birthday weeks. Amen.

We celebrated C's first birthday this past weekend. The day was filled with entirely too much prep, loads of baking & cooking, and ended overwhelmed and thankful for all the people who love our sweet C. I was pretty proud of myself for not tearing up the entire day. Probably because I had cake batter coming out of my ears, but mostly because his birthday isn't until later this week so I just keep telling myself that I still had a baby and not a one year old.

I don't plan to throw massive parties like this every year. I'm thinking more like every 5 years & all the in between years being focused on our family and that one child verses making sure I have enough food & what decorations will be the cutest. Just a thought for now. I wanted C's birthday to have some what of a theme, but he has no real interest so I decided to go with a "C" theme. Could you imagine the dud of a party if his name had started with a "Q"?
^Big C made out of foam core from Home Depot & Acrylic paint. Little C's made from card stock and paint.
^^ C is for Cherrios & Chain garland
^^Since it was "C" themed, everything started with a C. All the food, decorations, and games. I may have gone a little over board, but I LOVE how it turned out. Oh, and the colored gems are crayons from Target! I plan to use them for decor year round. Love them!
^^More of these photos later, my gosh the kid is a cutey:) Shirt found here
^^C is for coloring, crayons, and chalk
 ^^C is for cute babies!!!
^^C is for Corn hole & Chit Chat!

The night was seriously splendid, and the Lord blessed us with amazing weather. Thank you to all our friends and family who came, and even to those who didn't for loving our little guy.

Don't worry your little self, I'll be posting smashing cake pictures in the next few days because who doesn't want to see a messy, chocolate covered baby face:) Needless to say, he was alllll about some cake. I still can't believe he's turning one. This kid is the best.
